The Machines Are Taking Over

The explosion of web-based translation software has made sci-fi apocalyptic prognosticating become reality. Well, almost...

Run for the hills – the online translation programs are upon us!

The subjugation must end. The Web is being infiltrated by waves of computer translation automatons hell-bent on subverting human communication by churning out evermore soullessly misleading distortions of our well-intentioned messages to one another. Our hapless species is all too frequently entranced by the malevolent software’s amoral promises of quick translation fixes, freely submitting to the ensuing onslaught of grammatical and contextual sabotage in the conversion of one language to another.

We at Word Fever are fighting a dogged rearguard against the destructive droves by restoring the human factor to its right and just place as the key agents of textual translations. The machines work for us – rather than using computer software to translate entire passages, we only ever let it handle the occasional problematic word for us. That way, we stay true to the client’s intentions, retain the tone of the original text, and do our bit to stave off machine-age doomsday prophecies.

If we haven’t quite convinced you, wrap your brain around the following machine born monstrosity (The same text, ‘round-trip’ translated into Spanish then back into English, using a well known online translator*):

" The submission must finish. The Web has infiltrated by the waves of the translation hell robots decided equipment more and more to subvert the human communication by producing contorsiones soullessly deceptive of our well-meaning messages an a others. Our species is unfortunate with too much frequency in critical moment by the promises amoral the malevolent software of solutions of fast translation, frees to present/display to the later offensive of sabotage grammar and contextual in the conversion from a language to another one. We, in Wise Words are freeing a tenacious one against the rear of the destructive drones by means of the reestablishment of which the human factor that is correct and right position of the key agents of the textual translation. The machines work for us – instead of to use computer science programs to translate whole passages, to only it lets from time to time handle the problematic word us for us. That way, to remain faithful to the intentions of the client, to maintain the tone of the original text, and to make of our part to avoid the age prophecies Doomsday Machine ".
